Weekend in San Diego!

We spent a couple of days in San Diego this weekend and it was a lot of fun! We hit the La Jolla Shores beach on Saturday and the Zoo on Sunday. The weather was alittle chilly, but a nice break from the heat for us! The kids did great and seemed to really enjoy themselves! I can't wait to go back. We Love San Diego!
Gavin's first trip to the beach! He really loved playing in the sand and in the end was rolling around in it, and of course got a mouthful! Total Boy!

Kailyn spent her time playing in the water and sand with daddy. She thought it was really funny to get buried in the sand!

Mitch enjoyed taking his babies to the water!

The Zoo

Kailyn's favorite animal was the "big kitty cat" aka the jaguar. Unfortunately I didn't get a pic, the exhibit was madness in a 8x10. Her second favorite was the "fish", which was really the hippo, but there were loads of cool fish. Gavin hung for about 1/2 of the day and then gave way to the gentle ride of the stroller and cool breeze. I got sunscreen on everyone, but unfortunately not myself. Oh well, I guess once a year I need a good burn :( It was somewhat of an adventure with the double stroller ( a couple of feet were rode over, oops!) but overall a great day. I look forward to our next visit!

Gavin is walking!

May 13th - walking at 9 mos! First a couple of steps, then three, then three again and now he is walking all over the place! Not only is he walking, but he is very masterfully walking and carrying objects! I guess I sound like a proud momma.... He really is doing very well and he seems to be also quite proud of himself! Way to go Gavin on reaching another milestone!

Mother's Day

Well this year I was blessed to be the mommy of 2 little sweethearts! How did this happen? Each day I feel a great duty to be the best mommy around and I wouldn't have it any other way. So what if my sleep debt will take years to repay (which will probably never happen) and so what if every shirt I own has been spit up on, spilled on, or chewed on. I am totally in love with these two little munchins and everyday I cherish the time we spend together. This year our little family of four went to a favorite breakfast spot for their out-of-this-world waffles and then onto some shopping! Later Mitch treated us and his parents to dinner! Thanks to Mitch for making it a great day!

Bathtime fun!

The beauty of bathtime now is that it can be done together! Most of the time Kailyn likes to wash Gavin, especially his hair, and most of the time Gavin takes it. Too bad that Kailyn enjoys washing his hair rather than having her hair washed! His fascinatation is the faucet and She likes to hoard the toys. Bottom Line: in the end they both come out clean!

Gavin

He hasn't actually taken those first steps, but he has been busy! He is such a light in our life!

Kailyn's first haircut!

So up until now I have sort of been keeping her bangs under control, but she never has had a real haircut. When I noticed her hair to the middle of her back, I felt like it was time for a real cut. Mind you, I didn't have any length cut off, but it was layered and bangs were fixed ( kind of ). Turns out I have been cutting too much bang and we are going to have to grow some out. Man that will take forever - oops! She did great though, was a very good girl. She even waited patiently while mommy got her highlights done. The only problem - I forgot to take some hair home!! :( How does that happen?!

Almost!

Gavin is trying to take those first steps and I know that time is imminent! I don't know what we will do then? The little guy is already into everything. He doesn't miss a beat and is very inquisitive! Besides already learning to go through the doggie door, he has newly discovered the toilet paper! He has such a cute smile when he knows he shouldn't be into something; it is nearly impossible not to laugh! That is my little charmer!

Happy Easter!

Hope that everyone had a great Easter! The easter bunny did find his way to our house and brought Kailyn a scooter and Gavin a basketball hoop ( it is breakaway for dunking! haha!) We spent the day at La Quinta Resort, a beautiful place that has been around since the 1920's ( or something like that) We were treated to brunch & easter baskets from my boss & his wife; his parents and Mitch's parents also joined us. Of course both grandparents spoiled the kids also! The resort had many activities for Kailyn & her favs were the jumper and slide. Good thing she wasn't too much into the easter egg hunt because it was shear madness. Kids running amuck! We ended up doing alittle one for her in another area. She cried by the easter bunny, but grandpa Donnelly and Gavin were brave enough to take a picture with him. ( in Kailyn's defense, the bunny was alittle scary lookin'!) It was fun and will probably be a top choice for next year. Jake had a great time while we were away also - he ate the decorated easter eggs! About 9 or 10, shell and all! That is the craziest thing! I didn't know that dogs would even eat eggs, but now we know! That dog has a gut of steel!

Trouble

Thank goodness for the pool fense because the look on his face spells trouble!

Kailyn still likes to stake claim of her crib on occassion. Looks like trouble to me!

Polo

We recently took a trip to the local polo grounds to catch a couple "chuckers" (Ha! like I even know the terms) We enjoyed the weather, horses and friends. Kailyn had an opportunity to stomp some divets!

I'm back!

Hey everyone! As many of you know, it has been quite a stressful winter. My mom was in a serious car accident, but thankfully is recovering at home now. It will be a long process; so keep her in our thoughts and prayers. Everyone has been so wonderful already and I know that has meant the world to her and our family. For me, it is difficult to be thousands of miles away; so I appreciate all the that has been done for her. Gavin and I were able to go home ( actually to Omaha where she was in the hospital) for a few days and hope to get back shortly for another visit. Our lives here in California have continued with more milestones. Gavin with teeth! He has 2 bottom and the 2 on top are coming through as I write! He is pulling himself up and cruising along furniture. Since he is nearly 8 months old - we feel by 9 months he will be walking! I don't know if I am ready for all that!! Kailyn is talking more and more everyday. She talks to Jake " Jake, no bark!" and loves to count and say her colors. She refers to herself as princess ( oh man are we in trouble!) but continues to be the loving big sister. Mitch has just suceeded in establishing a new junior all-american ( bascially pee-wee ) football chapter in Cathedral City. It has been alot of extra time and effort, but it will pay off in the long run. Hopefully we will continure to build the football tradition in C.C. I am still busy at my same job, but now I have fridays off! I have been taking cake decorating classes with a friend of mine, Tina. It has been a lot of fun learning to make so many different things! It will be fun to make cakes and cupcakes for Kailyn and Gavin and all the events to come!

Keep Checkin'

Hello all and Happy New Year! I am excitied for the upcoming year and look forward to all the milestones that will happen in our little family! I am hoping potty training is Numero Uno! :) What is so scary about pooing in the potty? It perplexes me! Obviously it has been ages since my last post and it was an extremely busy December. We did make it to Iowa for Christmas ( I'll leave that story for another blog) and have settled in to the new year. Just wanted to let you all know that I haven't abandoned blogging and hopefully I will get some new pics and entries soon! So Keep Checkin' back!
